Getting Started with UnlockToLearn

Welcome to UnlockToLearn! This guide will help you set up the app and start learning in just a few minutes.

What You’ll Need

An Android device (Android 8.0 or higher) or iOS device (iOS 15 or higher)
Some flashcards to learn (you can create them or import from ANKI)

Quick Start

Download UnlockToLearn from:

Android: On Google Play for testers only — Sign up for Beta Testing! Visit Play Store
iOS: Not on App Store yet — Sign up for Beta Testing!

Step 2: Grant Permissions

The app needs certain permissions to work properly. Don’t worry — we only ask for what’s necessary.
You can skip this step if you only want to study within the app and don’t want to use the Unlock or App Trigger Challenges.

Step 3: Add Your First Deck

You have two options:

Create new flashcards deck — Tap the + button to create a deck manually.
Import from ANKI — Bring your existing decks

Step 4: Enable the Challenge Triggers (Android)

This is where the magic happens! Enable the unlock and app trigger to see a flashcard every time you unlock your phone or you open a specific app.

Step 5: Start Learning!

That’s it! Now every time you unlock your device, you’ll see a flashcard. Swipe right if you knew it, left if you need to review it again.

iOS Users

On iOS, the unlock trigger isn’t available due to platform limitations. Instead, you can:

Use Apple Shortcuts to automatically open UnlockToLearn
Add the Lock Screen Widget for quick access
Enable Notifications for scheduled reminders
